The Web Access Waikato Trust exists to help members of our community get online in a digital world. Specifically, we help people who want to get online but are prevented due to affordability or lack of some other barrier (such as lack of training or equipment). We have a special focus on homes with school age children.
Computers in Homes provides training, technical support, a choice of Chrome Books, refurbished laptops or laptop computers, and home Internet to students’ families in low-decile schools – so they can join the online world.
Programmes and projects
We believe every child in New Zealand deserves to have the opportunities to learn and thrive in the modern digital economy. Spark Jump is a new social programme to bring subsidised home broadband to thousands of New Zealand children.
Spark Jump is our way of helping solve this Digital Divide, by ensuring children have digital access both at school and in the home. The scheme offers 30GB of data for just $10 and a modem at no cost. The pre-paid offer means there’s no contract or credit check required and families have the added flexibility of topping up as they go.
Ngaruawahia Wireless Network
If you live in Ngaruawahia you can probably access our very own wireless network to provide high speed internet into your home for much less than the cost of traditional internet services.
WAWT operates a wifi hub at TWK. Anyone can drop it with their own wifi device (laptop, smart phone) to make use of our free wifi service.
If you’re a community group in the Waikato region and need some help setting up a computer hub for your clients to use then we’re keen to help. Please send your enquiry to us telling us what you’re trying to achieve, what you need from us and how the community is supporting you.
